Visual Language: Prepared Statement

My target audience for my two posters were latino americans ranging in age from 18-40. With my first poster, VOTA, I explored the rhetorical trope of allegory. I represented the latino culture symbolically through color and texture creating a visual patchwork of the diverse culture. My posters copy reads It takes a community of people coming together to make a difference. Conceptually I took all of these different photographs and place them together to form one background image, relating to my copy of people coming together to make a change. In my next poster, CON LIBERTAD Y JUSTICIA PARA TODOS, I am exploring the rhetorical trope of hyperbole, implying that if citizens do not vote, their rights will be taken away. The copy reads With Liberty and Justice for all. Liberty and Justice fade when you don't vote. Vote. I picked this famous phrase because it was subtle way to reference my target audience. To me "for all" references that minorities and majorities all have equal rights. The typeface is extreme, furthering the reference to the hyperbole and the call to action to vote. Liberty and Justice are literally fading, reaffirming my body copy.
